KESSELSKRAMER
This design for the East London studio of the Dutch communications agency, KesselsKramer continues the agency’s long-standing working relationship with Sean Griffiths who, as a director of FAT, designed their studios in Amsterdam and their previous London outpost in Hoxton. Consultation with the agency’s staff established the desire for a heavily planted, garden-like space with surreal qualities. This is achieved through the creation of a communal/meeting area defined by the illusionistic application of a painted motif on the floor, walls and ceiling, which makes furniture and object placed upon it appear to float. The studio is informally divided into workspaces by the careful distribution of birch tree trunks, hung from the ceiling which contribute to the desired effect of a surreal garden.
